1995                           

How we started:

The company:

Caprichem (Pty) Ltd. was established in 1995 and has for 30 years been a well known name in the chemical industry. We have capitalized on various marketing sectors in the industry and have become a very diversified chemical company. We have a large variety of divisions catering to most sectors in the industry. Caprichem offers an array of products in the chemical industry catering for most sectors in the market, namely: Food and Beverage Industry, Wine and Dairy Industry, Hospitality Industry, Laundry Industry, Marine Industry, Personal Care Industry, Retail Industry, Veterinary Industry, Automotive Industry, Engineering Industry, Floor Care Industry and Construction Industry. The company is home to 15 brands. In addition, we supply accessories such as cleaning equipment, household equipment, washroom dispensers and paper products, automotive cleaning equipment, safety equipment, hardware products, plastic products, glassware products and so much more.

2003                           

The shampoo:


Caprichem first launched in 2003 (20 years ago) a very basic dog shampoo which was red in colour, smelt like strawberries but did not really have a brand name!
We were then approached by the Caprichem Franchise in George, called Margot Swiss, to develop and launch a very specific and specialized Product for not just any normal pet! It was for a very special goat breed known as the Angora Goat.
The Angora goat breed is a very rare and special breed due to the type of coat they have and what many people make use of, known as a beautiful lustrous fibre, called Mohair.
Therefore, the Angora goats require a very gentle but well cleaning effective shampoo to keep the goat’s skin moisturized and soft, as well as their beautiful mohair coat!
Caprichem of course made a beautiful product to supply the industry and had it approved in Manchester, United Kingdom, due to South Africa not have accredited laboratories for the testing of Angora goat shampoos against the international Oeko-Tex 100 Standard..
Although, the Breedz brand still does not exist yet, Caprichem created a brand called Paws and Claws of which the dog, cats and angora goat shampoo fell under. 

2013                         

The start of the Breedz brand:


Soon after in the year 2009 the owner’s daughter started Horse riding lessons and soon got her first horse, Columbus in the year 2013. This horse was a magnificent big Dapple-Grey horse. So, keeping him clean was a challenge. Eventually, the owner thought we needed a horse shampoo!
But how did the brand Paws and Claws fit with bringing in a horse shampoo! Horses have hooves of course!
This is when the BREEDZ brand came to life. Although, we still loved the name Paws and Claws, we incorporated it into our BREEDZ Paws and Claws Aloe Vera Shampoo!
The BREEDZ brand came to life and multiple lines were launched for dogs and cats, puppies and kittens, angora goats and now horses.
The owner’s daughter got very competitive with her horse and competed in Dressage, Showing, and Show Jumping. She achieved her Western Province colours and was selected to go do her National Colours, which she achieved as well.
In the showing ring there must be no dirt on the horse and having a white horse it was a challenge but with a good shampoo, spot and stain remover it was a breeze. We even formulated a hoof polish to make sure the horse’s hooves are black and shiny when going into the show ring. 

2022                        

The growth of the BREEDZ range:


Due to being very innovative we knew that BREEDZ was not only all about shampoos but everything that a beloved animal could possibly need to help keep the environment clean and of course make it easy and convenient for pet owners.
Therefore, we launched the BREEDZ Litter Box Deodorizer as well as the BREEDZ Stain and Odour Digester.
In 2022, we launched the BREEDZ Blanket Disinfectant, BREEDZ Surface Disinfectant and BREEDZ Deodorizing Powder.
All our disinfectants are tested and approved by NRCS against the Compulsory Specification for Disinfectants and Detergent-disinfectants (VC8054) and bares a registration number. It also conforms to the European standards(EN1276) and is tested to a Log 5, which means it kills 99.999% of all germs.
Log reduction is a mathematical term used when testing product efficacy to indicate the number of microbes eliminated by use of the disinfectant.Prior to the new Compulsory Specification, disinfectants were required to kill 99.9% (log3 reduction) of tested bacteria. The new specification calls for a log5 reduction level i.e. 99.999% of the microorganisms must be eliminated within a specified time. – Usually 5 minutes   

2023

PET FRIENDLY PRODUCTS

The Breedz shampoo range is extremely safe and pet friendly. It was sent off and tested and approved in Manchester, United Kingdom, as an Angora goat shampoo.
The formula for the shampoo originally designed from a very delicate baby shampoo that was needed for babies who had very sensitive scalps.
With a few tweaks to the formula, we created the perfect pet friendly shampoos and the products that followed thereafter.
